Shh... I'm posting from work

Ok, so now the total is 845 hats as of last night. I opened 40 packages last night! Woohoo!

A few things:
1. an apology-- i'm trying to answer as many emails as I can, but I'm only human. Also, the lack of posting, honestly the scale of this endeavor is overwhelming... so, I'm sorry... all prize pics this weekend though!
2. Not just for Childrens' anymore. Ok, so we officially blown the number that Childrens' will accept (they are volunteer-limited, so if anyone is looking for a volunteer opportunity in Boston, call them)... so, we (the royal we here: me and PC) have decided to share the wealth:

MGH Hospital for Children
Childrens' Hospital Boston
Dana Farber Cancer Institute
Home for Little Wanderers
Hasbro Childrens' Hospital (Rhode Island)
Franciscan Hospital for Children

Oh, and if you can't get your hats here by TOMORROW (I know the snow will get some here by Friday, but tomorrow is the contest deadline!)... then send an email to Margaret (MargaretGraceMills AT gmail DOT com)-- she's in Tacoma and will collect up until April 1 for the Seattle Childrens' hospital.

So, we have prizes, prizes and more prizes: sweater kit (no, really!), anemoi mitten kits, knitspot patterns, sock yarn, shawl pins, and more: needles, accessories, candy....

Friday night: PC and I will be drawing names and packing up the prizes (yeah, exciting!)--- and they'll be mailed out over the next two weeks...

Thanks for playing!
:) Mini

Now several hospitals will benefit from your idea and organization. I for one am very happy to be among those that sent hats.

Since you haven't posted in a while, I figured it was because you were too busy with hats, so it was a good thing. Boy, was I right! I only wish I could see each and every Muppet Head in person.

Am so glad the hats are going to kids at these other fine hospitals. We should be proud.

  9. Awesome number of hats! I had a heck of a time getting out to the post on time and only just managed to mail mine off today. They more than likely won't get there until next Thursday though. Canada Post is horrifically slow.

  10. You've done an awesome job! I can't wait to see all the yummy prizes that were sent in. Plus, if you can, get a pic of all the hats. You have to document this. You'll never forget it.

Thank you for hosting this fun fur hat knit along. It was a big commitment on your part and what an accomplishment you've made! You've done a furrific job. ; - ) I like the list of hospitals you've chosen. How wonderful that our funtime knitting is overflowing. Let the fuzziness spread!

  24. I just found your blog today, and might I say...HATS OFF TO YOU! sorry for the pun. I live in Southern California, but just a week ago was in Boston, visiting my youngest, a student at Boston U. While we were scooting around the area on our way to lunch...I got a chance to really see LOTS of your city! I wish I'd have found you earlier..I could have dropped off a few hats while I was up there. If you do this project again...I'll be sure to knit you a few. What a great idea! I've been sending my chemo caps to the kids/adults back home to the U of Michigan Oncology unit. With a daughter in Boston now, next year...count me in!
    Happy Knitting!
